stately homes

If you fancy a bit of culture North Norfolk has some beautiful stately homes, most of which open their doors and gardens to the public.

To the right is Holkham Hall, built between 1734 and 1764 by Thomas Coke, the 1st Earl of Leicester. This elegant Palladian style mansion, which reflects the first Earl’s natural appreciation of classical art, was described by Pevsner as “the most classically correct house in Britain”.
